When Work is Play
I have always loved my work.
I am a self confessed workaholic.
I have always been interested in why I love to work.
The answer is simple.
Work strokes my ego.
Anything that strokes my ego is considered play.
Make no mistake I like to get paid for what I do.
But once I get involved wild horses couldn’t tear me away.
You see, I sing when I work; exactly how is that work?
I love to see how many problems I can solve while going through an otherwise simple routine.
I crave the feeling that solving problems gives me.
Getting paid is just a plus for me.
It helps to know what I am doing, but I am very content to just learn all day too.
I love to learn from the people who actually work where the rubber meets the road.
Being wrong is just another excuse to learn something new.
I love the Internet, as it is the most wonderful learning tool I could ever dream of.
All right, I have the knack for what to search for so it doesn’t take me too long to become versed in what I want to find.
I am great at English, Math, Science, Music, Philosophy, and History and can converse successfully on any subject I choose because I am always learning.
This just means I paid attention in school; yes, school has its uses.
TV bores me because it was made to keep people busy.
I live a good book, which means I laugh all the way through it.
I never go to a movie that I cannot learn from.
You would be surprised what there is out to learn from.
By now, you have guessed I am a knowledge freak.
What can I say, knowledge strokes my ego too.
When I can find out why something works the way it does, that is the key to me.
You see, I live in my mind so I live and let live.
All this makes me a keen observer.
I love to watch people in the act of being themselves.
People are the best pleasure around; I love their complexity.
Given enough time, I can usually figure out what moves them.
You see, everything is connected by the energy of life.
I can flow with the universe because I am part of it.
Most people don’t think they can flow, but they automatically flow.
They are just to busy to notice, so I notice for them.
I am connected to them and it all.
I send them all love and I get love back in the form of work, which is play.
