The Story Of My Life
Where do I start? The Beginning. What have I learned? A lot. How do I qualify it? Do It. Here Goes. Lesson 1 Question everything, especially the stuff you were taught.
Almost everything I learned from early childhood is colored with a fear bias. Every time I got hit, there was another chink in my psyche. Every time I got told no when I knew I was doing right, another inconsistency to contend with. One of many things I learned was right a long time ago was to speak when spoken to or to look but don't you dare touch or something bad will happen. These two simple things when taken to the extreme can really influence your life. When a child is impressionable, they can take in quite a lot and interpret it literally. Speak when spoken to can help a parent through a lot of child jabbering and questions that they don't want to answer, but it can also influence the way the child goes about life. If told often enough, the child can become an introvert and make a habit of living in his own little world because the world does not seem to want to talk to him or her. I know this because I did exactly this same thing, I shut out the world. This was partly because of what I was told and partly because the world I saw didn't make sense at all. Everyone was going around griping about this and that, but no one was fixing the problem. Look but don't touch made me extremely careful around everyone and afraid to touch them for fear that they would break. This saying may help parents in stores while shopping with their kids, but if you're told it often enough, it sinks in literally and becomes a real lonely way to live your life. And if you're told these two sayings both often enough, one could see a psychosis developing and therefore a real problem with interaction with people. I'm talking about social problems with a capital S. A child could develop a real fear of people if one was not careful. I has taken me 54 years to start on a path of freedom from these two sayings. To say I was socially immature or backward was the understatement of the world. If anything happens socially to me now, I deal with it a lot more openly, but this is deeply ingrained and not easily forgotten. Now I prefer to ignore people altogether rather than deal with their crud because I have enough of my own crud to look out for. If anyone passes me on the street, no words are exchanged in greeting due to learning this very well at a deep level. To touch another person is quite a decision for me, just a simple touch is almost terror for me because it creates an old dilemma for me, will they break or even worse will they break me. To talk to another person outside family is almost impossible unless they speak first. How could I ever sell anything to anyone? Needless to say, very carefully. These sayings were pretty common when I was growing up. Maybe this why Americans are generally a cold people preferring the safety of numbers and things where there is an answer. Life gives not a simple answer, but an easy one. All you have to do is know that it is alright to take the first step, even when the first step contradicts all you ever told as a child. To evolve, you need to delete old programming to make room for the new enlightened stuff in its place. Pretty easy once you know it is there. It only took me 54 years of stumbling around in the dark before I asked the right question of myself. How long did it take you? Hopefully, you were smarter. For instance , my wife sells renewable art, but it does not sell well because no one knows it alright to play with your art. Why do you leave the stuff on the wall even if you don't like it. You don't trust yourself enough to even touch it, I'll bet. What if I mess it up? What if I break it? I better not touch it. I could not replace it. I call them the OH My God or What If worries. I'm back to not touching things again, do you see how pervasive this saying is. Speak when spoken to is more than just a saying, it's a way of life for many. If you combine this with a few pimples and look but don't touch, you can see how easy for the child to shut out the world, permanently in some cases. When you put down a feeling that you think is good, but you are told is bad, it creates a conflict within you that is difficult to break. The Shadow side of your ego may be content for awhile, but look out, because the shadow knows and it may twist things around to actually mean that it is okay to break people because you need some companionship and you deserve it. From a child's point of view, it is all very simple, you desire and you go for it, directly. From a slightly psychotic point of view, one can justify anything to satisfy social needs and once the shadow is out of the box, well they're out. Then the rationalizing starts and it doesn't stop until it has the answer it wants. Because I need social interaction and other people won't give it to me, can I be blamed for taking it? Can I be blamed because people are bad if they won't talk to me or touch me? Even if I have to murder someone to get interaction, can I be blamed? Why do criminals want to be caught? So they can tell the world about all the injustices that they have born to get this far in life. Say I do kill someone, I can always justify by saying to myself that I knew it wouldn't work out anyway, I'm glad they're gone. I may have just killed someone to prove to my shadow that I was essentially right about people, they're all bad. I call this the Kill them all, let God sort them out syndrome. Pretty weird, but if you work at it, you can see how a particularly precocious child can twist things around. Say all the child is trying to do is figure things out by touching them and every time he or she does, they get beat up by their parents or teachers. Pretty soon the child figures out that by Pavlov's dog response, that if they touch something they're going to get hit. Two things happen after this is learned. The sane ego is scared to touch anything for fear of getting hit and the shadow wants to destroy things, before they get hit. Maybe now you can see how the Mutual Assured Destruction theme came about. It only makes sense to mad child. I have a brother who learned this real well. So well, in fact, that he now has a business he has developed to console his shadow. He knocks the corners off of monuments and resells them as boulders for more money to a different clientele. Talk about creative. Whatever works, the shadow will be satisfied, one way or another. Introverts are taught to not trust themselves. If you speak last, who is in control of the conversation, the other party, that's who. Now the introvert's ego has confirmed a number of things, namely, 1) They were right not to speak first and maybe next time they won't speak at all. 2) Since the other party gained control of the conversation, I was right not to speak, so I won't anymore. 3) if every time I speak get hit verbally, it makes sense to me to not say anything, so I'll be quiet. The introvert's shadow has a slightly different agenda that may run something like this. Remember, the shadow will be satisfied somehow at sometime. 1) I didn't like that person anyway, now he or she has confirmed it by putting me down again. 2) Maybe I'll just get him back someday when he or she is not looking. 3) Maybe someday, I'll tell him or her exactly how I feel about being the last to speak and not in control, then I'll get even, just you wait.Do you begin to see how just two small supposedly innocent sayings can be twisted to become a real nightmare to deal with. Our shadow must be given fair time too or it will leap out at the most conspicuous moments. A child's innocence can turn into a life of living in a shell rather than living life out in the open. You never know when a child's sensitivity meter will turn on and he or she will interpret things in the wrong way. My advice is to question everything, what have you got to lose?
Lesson 2 Go for It directly.
What happened early in you life if you wanted to do what you want without thinking of the consequences? You were probably taught to not go for it because that was risky and you could lose then what would you do. Heaven forbid, you should have to pay for your own mistakes. Some well meaning parent or teacher probably pulled you aside and put the fear of God into you about whatever you wanted to just go out and do. All they were trying to do was caution you about the possible consequences of your actions. What they probably did was kill the dream you had? They taught you to be careful and never go for it because they may have had a bad experience or knew someone who did. They broke some of your spirit that day by compromising your desires. You were young and impressionable, so you took the advice and played it safe. Now you always have a backup plan everywhere you go. You're not spontaneous and you never go for it directly. What will you teach your children? Probably the same thing, since you don't have any real spontaneous experiences to draw on in your life. Have you lived the best life you possibly could? NO. Was it safe? By whose standard? If you don't go for it directly, how will you know if you were ever any good at what you wanted to do? You Won't! I recently had a this lesson come home to roust again. I had a plan and I thought it was a good plan. I wanted to go into cutting stone, but I thought it was just too expensive to do for a living. I was safe, not stone cutting, but I was safe. I decided to go for it indirectly. I would make $ in the stock market and apply it to stone cutting. What happened was, I lost a lot of $ and now I am stone cutting and very happy. I am in debt to up to here, but I am stone cutting. I had to lose a fortune to find a way to cut stone. My advice is to go for it directly and save yourself the trouble.
Lesson # 3 Show those you love that you love them.
I made a lot of mistakes in my life, but probably among the major ones was not showing my affection for the people who matter in my life. Oh. I tell them that I care and I back it up with all kinds of things, but too rarely do I ever get physical. There is something about a simple touch that is hard to beat. I'm not talking about the everyday touches of love, no, I'm talking about a real push every once in awhile just to show the people I care about that they're #1 with me. If you give flowers often, then maybe a simple hug is required. If you snuggle every night, then maybe an intense love-making session is what is needed. If you call your parents all the time, maybe now and then a note of endearment is appreciated. What I'm talking about is going the extra mile for those you care for and this includes yourself. Do something that is completely not like you. If you never go dancing and your wife loves to polka, then go and do that thing that she loves to do. It will be appreciated. If you have two left feet as I do and all your rhythm is in your head, take lessons. I'm talking expanding your horizons a bit. It may even be hard to see yourself doing whatever is required to bring the spark back, but do bring it back. I've found that it is always up to me to initiate the experiences that matter in my life. Go for it directly or the love will fade.
Lesson #4 Love selling or Ask to receive
I know how we all love to hate those pushy salespeople, but if you're low on the green stuff, you probably are not promoting yourself in the right way. Take a push and make it a pull. Take some classes on NLP or any one of a bunch of entrainment programs and really read people. By noticing what people want, you can fashion a product or yourself in such a way as to get what you want. I know, you hate to sell, but just try talking about something you love to do and people can't shut you up. This is beyond just selling any product or service because if you do what you love, the people buy your enthusiasm for your product long before they buy your product. That's right people buy you not your product. Remember to shut up along the way, as most people love talking about themselves and what they are into. Through a little observing of your fellow human beings, you'll begin to figure out what they are buying. It may not be what you love to produce just now, but I'll bet you can modify what you love to produce so you can get to mainstream fast. Put your mind to it. People all over this planet are buying things so all you have to do is watch what they buy, modify it slightly just a to put a new wrinkle in it and sell it to them. Think about how you buy things. I'll bet it's mostly by feeling not thinking. The color of that car just feels right. What makes you decide? Is it the size of your pocket book or the feel of the house that gets you going. If it feels right and it doesn't hurt anyone else, I'll bet you find a way to get what your heart desires. So, slide into people by finding out their hot buttons. Go with the flow, if they want to talk about sailing and you could care less, you've got 2 choices, leave and lose the sale or stay and learn a little about sailing. Make a note in your Rolodex about this person and sailing, look up sailing chat clubs on the Internet and email them a link to get chatting about what they're interested in. These are just some examples of a pull selling strategy that could work. If you're trying to get a raise at work, you might figure out what the boss likes to do as a hobby and learn a little about it. Start e-mailing him or her links to what they like to do. Figure out why you're working where you are and increase your enthusiasm for your job. A job is just a job, but a career is n more like a pastime or designing a life around something you like to do. If you like working where you are working, stop considering it work. If you like it and get paid for it, then it's more like play. And when you play and get paid for it, you've got this world figured out. That's right, it's all about learning how to enjoy yourself while living through this learning experience we call life. If you like selling and your product is what you love to produce, money is a chinch. Money is how we live on this planet so it is imperative to make it easy to get. Use those little twists and turns in your life to lead you to easier ways to sell yourself to others. The more people you can get thinking in the way you want them to think, the easier your life will be. Selling by pull is a lot easier than pushing a product off on someone. If you think you're not a salesperson, think again. If you have children, how do you get them to do things, telling them to shut up and do it may have worked years ago, but now they throw people in jail for pushing their children around so you've got to negotiate your way through life. The world is all about a win-win approach today. Figure other people out and then bill them for what they want to have that you have for sale.
Yep, you've got to ask for it before you get anything in this life. Introverts go without a lot of the time just for lack of asking for enough. It's not only okay to receive, it is imperative to receive even if all you're interested in is giving it all away. You have nothing to give if you don't first receive. To receive , you have to do a little more than ask in this life. The word service is big in 3-D. You serve your boss or a customer to get paid. If you're retired, then you used to serve someone. Through serving you sell them on you. They buy you not the product. The whole system is based on trust. If you have someone's trust, you can bill them and they will pay. If not, ask anyway, they may tell you how to ask. There is an old saying that I am very fond of that goes something like this. He who wants, acts. If they won't return phone calls, do you want the order enough to swallow your pride and call. If you bashful in this world, you go hungry. As I was talking about before, pull them into you, don't push them away. Find out what most people want and get it for them. It is not hard. Don't want to sell, that's like saying you don't like to eat because one is tied to the other. You just have to learn how to ask in a way that will make them want to say yes. Once they're in the yes mode, you're on the receiving end because you have their trust. My second rule is, go after it directly. Do you see some consistency here. If you want it, go after it now.
Lesson #5 I am one with it all
I am just now truly waking up to the fact that I am connected to it all. I am not only connected to it, I am an integral part of everything that ever existed, because I have always existedand will continue to exist in some form or another forever. I am a spiritual being having a human experience. I feel it every time I cut the rock or snuggle with my wife. When we snuggle it's as if I don't exist anymore as a separate entity, we just meld together into this very pleasurable thing that I have trouble describing because it is so much more than I am alone. I am an individual in 3-D with my own evolution to play out, but while I am playing it out I get into the flow especially well when I snuggle, write, or cut rock.. It's hard to describe the experience because writing to me is life, everything suddenly comes clear and things speed up till I am oscillating at a frequency that is above human expression. I really love the earth and what I can make out of it. I feel I was born to write , snuggle and cut rock, altogether, at one time. I feel I am making a turn again in my life on earth. This time I am doing with everyone else's help. It's like I finally fit. I never felt like I fit before, I was always a little off. Now, I can do it all, and have fun doing it. My dreams are coming true and clearer now. There is a point to the things I do. It's like being in focus continually and knowing that you will be and are all right. It's okay to be me again. When ever I cut stone, it's like I can't stop smiling deep inside. The pleasure is intense. I meld with rock the same way in which I meld with Aurita during snuggle or how things come clear when I write. I only write when it's automatic. That is, I have a feeling for the ideas that I put to paper. No one but me may ever read them, but somehow I feel better for having written them. I am at my best without a doubt when I am doing these things. The feelings just flow onto the page or I just know that the stone I cut will be the best that stone can be in the moment that I create it. This is how I create things out of the energy that flows through me. I manifest snuggle, great stone work, and writing quite easily. It always comes out of me as if it were meant to be the way I make it. This is my magic and I love it.
Lesson # 6 How you feel about what you think determines your intent and intent implies direction.
We have all heard the saying that your thoughts determine your actions. If you think the same thoughts as yesterday, then you'll get what you got yesterday. You can say I know that, but if you don't feel it down deep, you won't act on it. This lesson is a call to action. The action of reflection on what you hold dear. What do you believe to be true about you? Is your philosophy getting you nowhere fast? What is your philosophy? Who shaped it? If you say you've never thought about it before, then you have one, but you didn't shape it, someone else did. Who then is running your life? You, or the person(s) who shaped your philosophy. Who is in charge of you? Do you know? Do you care? Questions, questions, questions, you alone can answer the tough ones that you probably never even bothered to ask before. If you don't know where to start, ask yourself what feels good to you and what do you walk away from? If you find something you don't like in you, change it. If you don't, no one else will, at least, for your benefit. This is a very subjective area, but you can change and quickly, but first, have some sort of plan of action and test each step against your intuition or gut. Life is a learn as you go process and you have to love learning.
Lesson #7 Love Learning
You spend your life learning one way or the other. Wayne Dyer's story is appropriate here.
Lesson # 8 Love change
Life is in the art of adapting to the changing situations we face as humans everyday.
Lesson #9 I am a Spiritual Being having a human experience
This lesson is along the lines of I am connected to it all. In my opinion, which is not wotrth the paper it's written on, we choose to come here for a purpose. That purpose is connected to our Karma and Darma. Our Karma is our history or what we have to overcome to evolve. Our Darma is our mission to find , accept, and then transcend to the next plane of existence. We know why we are here if we get quiet and slow down to live in the now. The slow down stops the chatter that is going on in our brains all the time. For every slowdown, there is a speed up, and that is noticing it all in the now and being able to let it go for the next moment to experience. If you fully notice one moment, it can fill you up and when you get full, you have to let go of what you're fullof to let the next moment flow in. Life is flowing process from event to event. When you are in the flow, you just know it. It all seems to fit somehow. Getting to the flow state is quite a trick because we have to let go of it all to have it all. When you are empty, you are like a child, and you know how fast and well they learn. As we grow, it seems that we get in our own way through the standard way of learning about life. What if we knew all the thoughts we had up until now to be a lie from one standpoint or another? It wouldn't be too hard to let all of it go, would it? Sorry to say, but as humans, we develop a lot of bad habits along the path that must be constantly re-examined with a fine toothed comb. You have to put it all together so that you can flow. Flow is when you start to realize that there is actually more to this life than meets the human eye. The eye can only see a small portion of life as we now know it too be. While on the earth, we experience no motion at all, yet we are spinning through this 3-D space called the universe. We can see the world is flat, yet we are taught that it is almost round. We can see our hand and the place where we are but we are taught that we are an energy form held together by our spirit's intent. We witness miracles everyday, but just can't quite seem to manifest our own miracles at the time we want them to happen. Are we taught to have a view of life like others around us so as not to rock the boat? Is it part of our Darma to escape this seeing eye dog madness that we find ourselves locked into? We usually get what we want later than when we expect to get it. Does that make us poor at this game of life or just misinformed? I am here to tell you that there is better way to go through life. Each spirit decides to come here to work on something so it can evolve to the next step in their journey. The spirit has no concept of time so it does not recognize our human requirements right away sometimes. Sometimes, it takes lifetimes to accomplish what others accomplish in an instant. They just know how to ask better than we do. You ask while in flow and you get instantly. Deepak Chopra says miracles are easy, I agree. The state of mind you are in when you ask determines your outcome. When you are natural about it and not forced, it helps.
Lesson # 10 Be Grateful for what you have now
Accepting what you have is a large piece of the picture.
Almost everything I learned from early childhood is colored with a fear bias. Every time I got hit, there was another chink in my psyche. Every time I got told no when I knew I was doing right, another inconsistency to contend with.
